Travel time from Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi's base camp Katra will now be reduced to half. NHAI has started work on the much awaited Delhi-Katra-Amritsar Expressway connecting four states. In Jind district, this expressway will pass through 16 villages. NHAI has issued the notification of section-3 on Sunday for the acquisition of land in these villages.

The expressway, built under the Bharatmala Project, will originate from the villages of Pillukheda, Aleva and Narwana blocks, about 15 km from Jind city. NHAI has started the process of land acquisition after survey of the company preparing DPR for the expressway. The fort number of the land to be acquired has been given in the notification of section-3 published on Sunday.

Farmers whose land has come under the purview of acquisition will have to submit their objection in 21 days. After this, notification of Section-3D will be issued, which will also have the names of the landowners. The award will be pronounced after the completion of this process. Project Director of NHAI KM Sharma said that the process of land acquisition is going on fast. Apart from Jind, notifications have also been issued for land acquisition in Kaithal and Sonipat districts. In Haryana, this expressway will start from Jhajjar district and will pass through Rohtak, Sonipat, Karnal, Jind districts and end at the border of Punjab in Kaithal district.

The DRO will submit its report after hearing these objections. After this there will be notification of section-3D. According to NHAI officials, compensation will be given under the central government policy on land acquisition.
